The community that I live in is not as big as the cities around me, I live in the 3rd largest city of Ontario, a city called Mississauga in Canada with the population of 668,549 people as of 2011. I have lived here all of my life, not in the same areas but all around Mississauga. Over the years, the population of Mississauga has only increased, the residential areas have been increasing and more housing units have been made.
I have lived in three parts of Mississauga, Malton which has the population of 37,700 people, Cooksville which has the population of 51,210 people, and Rathwood which has the population of 31,670 people. I noticed that Malton had the most diversity out of all of the areas i have lived in. Malton had the majority of English speaking culture but the rest of the culture were of non-english speaking culture as well as the majority of the population were non caucasian. The culture aspect in the other two locations that I lived in were majority of all English speaking population and were mostly caucasian.
Over the years, I noticed that there has been a great change due to the major population growth. Mostly this change has been good, there have been more houses and condos being built which gave more opportunity to newcomers who are looking to move into Mississauga, but with the good there has been bad. Mississauga fears that there might be overcrowding due to how fast the population has been growing and at some points its pretty difficult to keep up with due to the fast pace. Mississauga differs from Toronto, Toronto has been increasing in it’s population much quicker and buildings have been being made much quicker and it has been like that especially for the past couple of years and there is no way of stopping that.
The young population has really increased over the past 3 years and currently has really shaped the way Mississauga works, the young population has completely taken over and has cause a lot of the issues that happen today, the city needs to get under control quick because this population of Mississauga has only been growing faster and faster. Mississauga does not have a large amount of cultural conflict but they do have an amount that is big enough to be talked about. The community of Mississauga has attempted to accommodate these challenges by only making it worse, and that needs to be stopped because if this keeps happening, it will only begin to get worse as the population grows.
To conclude, this has shown that the population is only growing, and there is no way to stop that, it isn’t all that bad that the population is growing but the outcome of this is that it is really hard to keep up with this city and problems are only growing without any chance of keeping the city under control.
